Patrick Quarles is senior vice president, Intermediates and Derivatives, for LyondellBasell, one of the world’s largest olefins, polyolefins, chemicals and refining companies. He has responsibility for LyondellBasell’s chemicals portfolio downstream of the company’s olefins production. These businesses include propylene oxide and its derivatives and co-products as well as acetyls and ethylene oxide and its derivatives.
Prior to the December 2007 merger of Basell and Lyondell Chemical Company, Quarles was vice president for Performance Chemicals for Lyondell, with global responsibilities for Solvents, C4, Acetyls and BDO businesses.
Quarles started his career at Lyondell in 1990 and has held various positions in sales, marketing and business management. From 2000 to 2004 he held positions as director, Investor Relations and director, Business Performance Analysis and Reporting. He is based in Houston.
Quarles earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Clemson University in 1989 and a master’s of management from The J. L. Kellogg Graduate School of Business in 1995.
