Sam Smolik

Sam Smolik is vice president, Health, Safety, Environment and Operational Excellence for LyondellBasell, one of the world’s largest olefins, polyolefins, chemicals and refining companies. He is based in Houston, Texas.

Smolik was most recently vice president, Global Downstream Health, Safety, Security and Environment of Royal Dutch Shell. Prior to joining Shell, he was vice president, Global Environment, Health, Safety and Security with The Dow Chemical Company in Midland, Michigan and also held a variety of domestic and international leadership positions in manufacturing, site HS&E, process engineering, process control and information systems.

Smolik currently holds a number of leadership positions with organizations including The University of Texas at Austin (Engineering Advisory Board); Antwerp International School Foundation (President, Board of Directors); Ducks Unlimited (Conservation Programs Committee), and the Coastal Conservation Association (Foundation Committee).

Smolik holds a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.
