At LyondellBasell, talent development is a shared responsibility between the individual employee and the company. We are committed to providing the necessary support to fully utilize an employee’s potential.
One example of this is our structured, yet flexible, engineering development program. Upon joining the company, you will be partnered with a senior engineering mentor who will provide guidance and feedback to help you succeed. Within the first three months of employment, you’ll participate in an orientation program to learn more about our industry, vision and values, products, compensation and benefits programs and performance management systems. You will also meet with key company leaders who will share career insights, including information on the competencies and experience you will need to qualify for advancement opportunities throughout the organization.
To support your broadening and development, you will work closely with your supervisor to determine possible job rotations that are a “best fit” – helping you reach your goals while filling business needs. Our rotational process offers diverse assignments, maximizing your exposure to different technologies, functions, locations and cultures. Rotations include both traditional engineering assignments and other opportunities in departments such as purchasing, supply chain, business analysis and human resources. Entry-level chemical, mechanical and electrical engineering new hires target two to three rotation assignments in the first five years after graduation. (Relocation during the rotation process is not required.)
Training courses are offered to enhance your knowledge of technology, engineering, business strategy and leadership. Aside from required training, you can choose from a variety of other courses based on your career interests. We also provide an extensive online resource library of training courses and important reading material for you to use. We offer endless opportunities for your career development. Exciting technical and management opportunities in manufacturing, research, and business functions such as marketing, supply chain and sales are just a few of the possibilities. At LyondellBasell, your career path is limited only by your imagination. Ultimately, you will shape your own career by taking the lead in your personal and professional development.
