Katie is a Senior Engineer at the Channelview, Texas, manufacturing facility.
In the nine years she has worked for the company, Katie has exercised responsibility for maintaining and improving the reliability of plant machinery in four different jobs.
Katie has put her degree in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M to work at two different sites, and she credits LyondellBasell’s engineering rotation program with providing her the opportunity to move around and gain a variety of experience.
"Each site is different," she notes, "and each has given me a chance to learn new skills." Katie values the knowledge she has gained of different types of equipment and different metallurgies, allowing her to apply the lessons she learned in school, particularly in material science, thermodynamics and fluids.
Each site is different," she notes, "and each has given me a chance to learn new skills.
Katie calls on her problem-solving experience as well as her academic knowledge. "The way I solved problems in school, I can apply to issues here in the plant," she points out.
She also enjoys the support of her fellow workers. "Wherever I have gone, teamwork has been a part of everyday life." "If you invest in relationships with the people you work with, they will help you be successful — whether they have more or less experience or skill than you have."
