In 2005, Mani joined the company to provide technical service and application-development assistance to customers in India.

Today he finds himself in Ferrara, Italy, with responsibility not only for optimizing product application of polyolefins, but also supporting the development of new grades of the polymers themselves.

When he’s not exploring his new city by bicycle, Mani’s attention is focused on the pilot plant at the Ferrara facility — "the place where you can watch new polymers being born day after day." For a degreed polymer engineer, the level of interest and excitement is understandably high. "Every day I learn something new about our products," he relates. "Most of all, I have come to appreciate that technology is a continuous process."

The size of the company presents broad opportunities to grow in the understanding of products, processes and applications for polyolefins. But there is also the chance to implement an individual’s promising ideas.

Working as a member of a team in Europe also has given Mani an understanding of the process by which people share knowledge throughout the company. "It has brought about some changes in my thinking, but at the same time the experience has given me confidence in my personal approach," he points out.
