Based in Italy, Maria serves as Catalyst Technology Manager.
Since joining a predecessor company to LyondellBasell twelve years ago, Maria Di Diego has gained experience across the complete spectrum of catalyst manufacturing activities — exercising responsibility in polymerization pilot plants as well as in commercial production operations. Maria’s degree in chemical engineering from the Università degli Studi di Bologna, which is augmented by a master's in economics, has contributed significantly to her progress.
Maria says her current role as catalyst technology manager is "the link between research and manufacturing," which makes her an essential component for transforming technological innovations into successful polymer products.
In preparation, the company has given her the opportunity to change positions "about every three years, which I consider sufficient to acquire the primary skills at each level."
Among the keys to the company’s performance is a culture based on collaboration, information sharing, and a passion for innovation.
Her experience with pilot production and plant start-ups has provided not only an excellent technical background, but also a global view of the impact of her job in maintaining the company’s worldwide competitiveness.
Her travels have also convinced Maria that, "among the keys to the company’s performance is a culture based on collaboration, information sharing and a passion for innovation."
As a wife and mother of two, she also appreciates the commitment of LyondellBasell to health and safety — for its employees, for its customers and for the communities in which it works.
