Leading global automotive interiors producer Benecke-Kaliko has awarded LyondellBasell the Supplier of the Year certificate for 2010. With a strong focus on product quality and supply chain excellence, the company’s polyolefins business in Europe outperformed numerous suppliers to earn this significant achievement.
“We set high standards for our suppliers,” said Wolfgang Schumacher, global director of procurement at Benecke-Kaliko. “We recognize and appreciate LyondellBasell’s extraordinary high reliability rates and their continuous supply of high-quality products with zero complaints in 2010.”
Based in Germany, Benecke-Kaliko purchases Hifax thermoplastic polyolefins (TPOs) from LyondellBasell for the production of car dashboard coverings and other interior uses. Among the leading products selected for auto interiors, Hifax resins produce soft, leather-like surfaces that minimize window fogging, without the use of plasticizers. But Benecke-Kaliko demanded more than just the benchmark performance Hifax resins are known for. The company required value-added services that streamline supply chain activities.
“With swift, dedicated customer service, we exceeded Benecke-Kaliko’s expectations,” said Michael Moeller, customer manager, Europe. “We established minimum stock levels at our sites, created initial sample reports to assess quality, and implemented quality assurance agreements.“
Moeller added that Hifax TPOs have successfully displaced traditional products used in this application, due to their numerous attributes. “Benecke-Kaliko not only appreciates our customer service focus, but they benefit from improved application performance with our Hifax resins.”
