Emphasizing its dedication to an important growth region with the theme "Commitment," LyondellBasell showcased its leading product and service offerings at this year’s Chinaplas, Asia’s largest plastics trade fair. The four-day event held in April in Shanghai attracted more than 80,000 visitors from the region as well as from around the globe.
Among the show’s 2,100 exhibitors from 32 countries, LyondellBasell stood out with its unique and extensive advantages – local and regional production facilities, innovative product portfolio, and strong sales, customer and technical service support. Visitors to the LyondellBasell exhibit expressed interest in the company’s new grades used in pipe & sheet, packaging, medical applications and automotive components, which represent fast-growing market areas in the region. According to show organizers, China consumes more than 40 million tons of plastics annually, making it one of the largest markets for plastic and rubber products in the world.
According to the business management team in Asia, commitment plays a significant role in the region, and participation at Chinaplas demonstrates our commitment to this important growth market. The strong interest in LyondellBasell products has been overwhelming during the show. This is a clear sign that the company is recognized as one of the leading players in the industry.
LyondellBasell serves the region through its strategic network of joint ventures and wholly-owned operations. Annually, the company markets approximately two million tons of polypropylene and polyethylene resins through its three joint ventures in the Middle East – Saudi Polyolefins Co. (SPC), Saudi Ethylene and Polyethylene Co. (SEPC) and Al-Waha Petrochemical Co. The company operates sales and technical offices in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Beijing. Its polypropylene compounding facilities located in Suzhou and Guangzhou address the needs of China’s automotive market, which has become the world’s largest. The company’s Asian joint ventures that produce and market polypropylene include PolyMirae in Korea, SunAllomer in Japan, and HMC in Thailand.
