Polypropylene impact copolymers are thermoplastic resins produced through the polymerization of propylene. Copolymers are produced by introducing a heterophasic structure inside a semi-crystalline PP homopolymer matrix.
The use of metallocene catalysts enables the production of impact copolymers with exceptional transparency and purity as well as impact performance typically found in freezer applications such as ice cream containers.
Benefits and Applications
Typical customer applications include:
- Injection molding (caps and closures, TWIM food)
- Film
Properties
- Good impact/stiffness performance even at low temperatures
- Very good aesthetic characteristics, low volatiles and extractables
