TBAc tertiary butyl acetate is a unique non-HAP, VOC-exempt* organic solvent with versatile performance and negligible photochemical reactivity. It is designed to solve many of the compliance issues facing manufacturers and end-users of formulated products. We are the leading worldwide supplier of tertiary-butyl acetate and we have helped many customers develop low-VOC formulations for wood lacquers, auto refinish primers and clearcoats, aerosol coatings, and air-drying alkyd coatings.
*The U.S. EPA has published a rule excluding tertiary butyl acetate from the Federal definition of a VOC (40 C.F.R. § 51.100(s)(5); see also 69 FR 69304). State and local definitions may vary.
Compliant Solvents
We are a leading supplier N-methyl-2- pyrrolidone (NMP), an excellent process solvent and coalescent for water-dispersible urethanes and acrylics. We have extensive experience formulating with NMP. We are the sole U.S. producer of MPDiol glycol, a liquid diol for polyester and polyurethane resins. Since introducing MPDiol glycol to the market, we have helped our customers develop high-performance weatherable coatings for coil, can and general metal applications as well as gel coat, powder and high solids formulations, and urethane dispersions. MPDiol glycol generally improves the flexibility, storage stability, toughness, flow, and weatherability of polyester systems without adding cost.
Novel Intermediates and Resins
We are the sole U.S. producer of allyl alcohol. We also manufacture include SAA 100 and SAA 101 styrene allyl alcohol resinous polyols, which are used as performance modifiers in thermosetting coating systems and as intermediates in the manufacture of high-performance alkyds and polyesters. SAA improves the cure rate, hardness, gloss, adhesion, corrosion, and chemical resistance of 2K urethane coatings for automotive and industrial maintenance use, baked enamels for metal, and conversion varnishes for wood.
