Safety Performance. Our employees are committed to the concept that all injuries are preventable. In 2007 the site achieved a milestone of working injury-free for more than two full years.
Environmental Performance. The company has developed measures that minimize environmental impact. These include the safe treatment and disposal of hazardous wastes, prevention of air, water and soil pollution, and energy conservation. The company’s environmental management systems was certified to ISO 14001 in 2001.
As a voluntary participant in the Australian government’s Greenhouse Challenge program, the company monitors and reports greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the Clyde Plant and implements action plans to reduce energy consumption. Increased operational efficiencies and throughput have achieved GHG reductions .
In 2008, LyondellBasell Australia entered into a voluntary sustainability covenant with the Victorian Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) and the Plastics & Chemicals Industry Association (PACIA) aimed at further embedding sustainable business growth principles within the organization and supporting product innovation for greater resource efficiency in the Australian polypropylene market. LyondellBasell Australia has also committed to the implementation of the PACIA Sustainability Leadership Framework for Industry.
