The Geelong Plant, which began operations in 1979, is located in Corio, 70 km south west of Melbourne in Victoria. The plant produces polypropylene, a base material used in the manufacture of countless goods and products that enhance the quality of life for people around the world. LyondellBasell is a global leader in polyolefins and the sole manufacturer of polypropylene in Australia.

The 2006 plant expansion increased the annual capacity of the plant to 130,000 tonnes of polypropylene (PP). The plant uses liquid phase technology and LyondellBasell catalysts to produce a wide range of homopolymer polypropylene grades.

Polypropylene pellets are packaged in either 20-tonne bulk containers, 1,000 kg bags or in 25 kg bags and sold to plastic product manufacturers in Australia, New Zealand, South East Asia, China, Northern Asia, Indochina and India.

Customers use our polypropylene to produce film, fibre, industrial strapping, caps and closures, rigid and flexible packaging, housewares, flower pots and blow moulded products.

LyondellBasell’s Geelong Polypropylene Plant employs approximately 57 people, including contractors.

LyondellBasell is committed to continuous improvement in safety, security, environmental performance, reliability and open communications.
