April 2011: Global Care Day volunteers from Fos and Berre
LyondellBasell is continuing its annual tradition of volunteer-focused outreach to help make our communities better places to live and work. For nearly 24 hours on Saturday April 9, 2011, LyondellBasell volunteers have been working somewhere in their communities to make them a better place as part of LyondellBasell’s 12th annual Global Care Day.
The worldwide day of community service saw people helping people in 64 communities in 24 countries with a combined 12,000 hours of volunteer service. Locally, Global Care Day Volunteers from Fos Caban teamed up with colleagues in Berre to support La Chrysalide association for the mentally handicapped.
For the 6th year in a row, they worked with residents and staff in Mas des Aiguebelles, near Entressen which is a resident home for the mentally impaired. Landscaping the garden, trimming the woods, re painting the restaurant were some of the many hands-on projects completed on Saturday April 9.
“Over the years, we have seen links growing between LyondellBasell and our handicapped residents, “said Bernard Le Guein, head manager from Mas des Aiguebelles. “They enjoy meeting year after year. Now, that goes far beyond material or technical support that our LyondellBasell friends bring to us. Global Care day has become a day that our residents long for and we hope that it will have many more editions.”
