Global Care Day. LyondellBasell’s Global Care Day is a one-day community service initiative designed to encourage employees around the globe to come together on the same day each year to make a difference by participating in community service projects. On Global Care Day 2008, employee volunteers from our site visited a local school to talk with the students about the Terni industrial complex. They also donated an electronic blackboard for use in classroom instruction.
Community Involvement. Our site has developed an atmosphere of trust with the local community based on open and continuous dialogue, with particular emphasis on safety and environmental matters. We have provided support to the local authorities for the Integrated Regional Emergency Plan for chemical and natural hazards. The site has assisted the National Fire Brigade in training the task force for managing chemical and biological hazards, and has participated in a task force that provides technical support to the National Emergency Transport System in the event of transportation incident involving hazardous substances.
Community Outreach. Many of our employees are involved in important local and national cultural, social and environmental association, and each year we provide donations to local charitable organizations or to the local pediatric health care facilities. We also partner in activities with local schools, and our site hosts a permanent display called "Terni in Scienza" in partnership with the local town council education department.
