As a socially responsible company, we support industry initiatives. We participate in Responsible Care© program, monitoring and improving aspects of our operations that might affect the environment and the health and safety of local community members, employees and contractors. We belong, as well, to Cicloplast, Spanish plastics recycling and recovery association, helping to promote the recovery of plastics waste.
Volunteerism. Our employees are recognized for contributing in the community. They contribute as donors in regular blood donation campaigns and participate in our annual Global Care Day, one of the major volunteering events of LyondellBasell. It is a one-day community service initiative designed to encourage employees around the globe to come together on the same day each year to make a difference by participating in a community service project. In April 2008, employees from Barcelona and Tarragona sites joined to participate in the planting of 50 pines in a new community park located over a former trash dump in the municipality of Vila-seca (Tarragona). In May of 2009, the project involved another tree planting, this time in a small park in the town of La Canonja (Tarragona).
