Community outreach. Plant managers meet regularly with community leaders to discuss the importance of environmental and safety performance at petrochemical plants.
Explore & Experiment. Through LyondellBasell’s Explore & Experiment program, our employee volunteers offer hands-on science activities to local classrooms, sparking student interest in science. We also offer area teachers science-training workshops that help them use our Explore & Experiment curriculum in the classroom.
In addition, our employees work with Marple-Newtown School District to offer students access to our world-class chemical-research center. Students participating in the district’s Senior Project Program spend time with LyondellBasell scientists at Newton Square Center, learning about the work they do.
Global Care Day. Thousands of our employees, worldwide, work to make a difference in the world by joining this annual community-service day.
This year, our Community Champions helped to build Freedom Playground Havertown, a handicap-accessible public park that serves all children, regardless of their abilities.
Philanthropy. Our employees open their hearts and wallets to support local organizations. For example, they generously support local community-service agencies through an annual payroll-pledge campaign for the United Way.
Volunteerism. We encourage our employees’ engagement in the local community.
Collectively, our employees spend hundreds of hours each month in volunteer service. They serve as emergency responders, science-fair judges, referees, mentors, Scout leaders, teachers, coaches and school-board members.
