Community outreach. Plant managers meet monthly with the Citizen’s Advisory Council to La Porte Industry, a cross-section of residents from La Porte, Morgan’s Point and Shoreacres, to discuss community expectations and concerns.
Global Care Day. Thousands of our employees, worldwide, work to make a difference in the world by joining this annual community-service day.
This year, our employee volunteers worked on the home of an elderly Pasadena man who could not afford to make the repairs himself. Repairs were made to the house, which also was painted, a new concrete walkway laid and it was landscaped.
Philanthropy. Our employees open their hearts and wallets to support local organizations. For example, they generously support local community-service agencies through an annual United Way payroll-pledge campaign.
Volunteerism. We encourage our employees’ active engagement in the local community. They donate hundreds of hours to community service every month.
Bayport employees volunteer in the La Porte and Clear Creek independent school districts, The Bay Area Turning Point Women’s shelter in Houston Clear Lake, the La Porte Chamber of Commerce and the La Porte LEPC. We "adopt" needy families from our community during the winter holidays, giving them clothing, food and gifts.
Our employees also serve as volunteer emergency medical technicians, science-fair judges, Scout leaders and coaches.
Community-service awards. Together with the company’s other Bay Area plants, the Bayport Polymers Plant was recognized by the city of Shoreacres with LyondellBasell Day in 2010, honoring the plant for its community service for several years, especially for help after Hurricane Ike.
The plants received the Industry of the Year Award from the La Porte Chamber of Commerce for their community service and involvement.
