Changing The World: All In A Day’s Work

Global Care Day - Tarragona 2011Each year employee volunteers at LyondellBasell rise up to participate in special community service projects around the globe on the same day.  We call it Global Care Day.  This provides an opportunity for employees around the world to make a difference in their community and to demonstrate our commitment to Fostering Success, our mission for community involvement.

Global Care Day projects focus on one or more of LyondellBasell’s Fostering Success values—the environment, community prosperity, and education.   The key component is people –LyondellBasell volunteers and their family members who want to make their community a better place for the enjoyment of everyone.

On April 14, look for LyondellBasell to have more than 3,000 volunteers giving their time, talent, and passion to community service projects in at least 20 countries. This is the 13th year that company volunteers will host Global Care Day in communities around the world.

Every year we strive to grow more volunteers and projects. In 2011, LyondellBasell volunteers completed 70 projects, which had an economic impact of more than $305,000. Past activities have included sites creating outdoor education centers, restocking food banks, revitalizing homeless shelters, planting trees and flowers, cleaning beaches and waterways, and bringing life back to community parks.

LyondellBasell volunteers are interacting, connecting, and making a difference in their communities—the places we all call home.
