Local Employee Named Young Innovator

Tom Schwab has been awarded one of two Young Innovator Awards from LyondellBasell.  Schwab resides in Loveland, Ohio and has worked at the Cincinnati Technology Center since joining the company in 1998. Schwab, originally from Wilmington, Ohio, is a 1998 graduate of the University of Cincinnati, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering and also an MBA in 2002.

“I am honored to be recognized by LyondellBasell,” said Tom Schwab, Cincinnati Technology Center engineer. “This honor comes from a direct result of collaboration by various cross-functional teams including Marketing, Sales and Manufacturing.”

The award was presented in Ferrara, Italy, by James L. Gallogly, LyondellBasell chief executive officer, and Massimo Covezzi, the company’s senior vice president, Research and Development.  Schwab was credited with successfully developing and qualifying 12 new polyethylene products, numerous film structures and new customer applications.

“We are thrilled that Tom received this award,” said Charles Holland, Cincinnati Technology Center site manager. “He has delivered significant business results for the North American polymers business by applying his knowledge of polymer fundamentals, product markets and applications.”

The Cincinnati Technology Center is a research and development center for LyondellBasell’s North American polymers business. The facility develops efficient and effective polymer materials for customer applications and reduces manufacturing costs by optimizing the operation of polymer processing equipment.
