HOUSTON, March 8, 2024 - Today, LyondellBasell announced its Bayport Site Manager, Amy Caldwell, has been recognized by the Manufacturing Institute (MI) – the workforce development and education partner for the National Association of Manufacturers – as a 2024 Women MAKE Awards honoree. This is the third year a LyondellBasell leader has earned this high honor, which recognizes women who demonstrate excellence and leadership in the manufacturing industry.

Amy is a passionate and committed leader who is making a significant impact in the manufacturing industry. Amy joined LyondellBasell over 20 years ago and is now responsible for leading the world’s largest capacity propylene oxide (PO) and tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA) plant  in her role as Bayport Site Manager. A firm believer in learning and development, Amy is dedicated to mentoring other women and helping equip them to flourish in their own careers. She also supports her community through Partners-in-Education with Bayshore Elementary in LaPorte ISD and the Armand Bayou Nature Center (ABNC), a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and conserving the natural environment of the Houston area.

"Amy strives for excellence in everything she does. She empowers others around her and is a great example of the type of leader that makes a difference," said Kim Foley, executive vice president, Global Olefins & Polyolefins (O&P), Refining and Supply Chain. "Amy is actively breaking down barriers and clearing a path for future generations of women in this industry. “

The Women MAKE Awards are part of the MI’s Women MAKE America initiative, which is the nation’s marquee program to close the gender gap in manufacturing. Women account for about half of the U.S. labor force but represent less than one-third of the manufacturing workforce. Women MAKE America aims to build the 21st-century manufacturing workforce by empowering and inspiring women in the industry.

“With more than 600,000 open jobs in manufacturing today and the continued need to fill millions more jobs by the end of the decade, it’s critical for manufacturers to engage the largest underrepresented pool of talent: women,” said MI President and Executive Director Carolyn Lee. “The 2024 Women MAKE Awards gala promises to be an inspirational, powerful event, where some of the brightest stars in manufacturing will be recognized for the incredible work they have done—both to grow our industry and to uplift others like them.”

On April 18, the MI will host 130 recipients of the Women MAKE Awards in Washington, D.C. The evening will highlight the story of each Honoree and Emerging Leader, including their leadership and accomplishments in manufacturing.
