Anup Sharma

Senior Vice President, Global Business Services

Anup Sharma is senior vice president, Global Business Services for LyondellBasell, one of the world’s largest plastics, chemicals and refining companies. In this role he is focused on advancing the competitiveness of LyondellBasell globally, building first-quartile commercial and operational capabilities, and the next-generation of global talent. He is also leading a company-wide structured approach to differential value creation through continuous improvement, digital technologies and strategic partnerships across the value-chain.

Sharma leads a business group comprised of four global pillars - Procurement, Digital, IT and cyber-security. The GBS team is accountable for value capture across all business segments and functions, partnering to deliver on our sustainability ambition, and leveraging digital at scale.

Sharma’s career spans over more than 25 years as a senior strategy and operating executive with a focus on breakthrough innovation, driving operational excellence and leading enterprise-wide digital transformation. He brings deep energy and manufacturing industry domain, broad experience in international business and global M&A, and expertise in building high performing global teams. Prior to this position, Sharma was with General Electric in a variety of executive positions, including vice president & corporate officer. In his most recent role, Sharma was responsible for driving company-wide digital solutions to accelerate customer outcomes, revenue and productivity. He also held a variety of technology executive positions throughout the company’s diverse operations including chief information officer (CIO) for GE Oil & Gas, GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy, and GE Energy Installation & Field Services.

Sharma holds a Bachelor of Science degree in computer information science and business management from Huntington University in Indiana, is a graduate of GE’s Information Technology Leadership Program (ITLP), and a certified Six sigma master black belt. He serves on the Council of Overseers at Rice University’s Jones Graduate School of Business, is a member of the executive advisory board for AspenTech, and is the 2021 board of directors chair for the March of Dimes, Houston.
