LyondellBasell is the only manufacturer of diethyl ether in North America.
Diethyl ether is used in laboratory reagents, gasoline and diesel engine starting fluids, liniments and analgesics (painkillers) and smokeless gun powder. It is also used in agricultural and pharmaceutical applications.
The use of LyondellBasell Diethyl Ether refined grade in the following applications is prohibited:
- Pharmaceutical excipient or Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API)
