Communities to Benefit from Company and Employee Donations

CINCINNATI, Ohio – May 18, 2017 – The Cincinnati Technology Center of LyondellBasell, one of the world’s largest plastics, chemical and refining companies, recently announced donations totaling $146,904 to the United Way of Butler County, United Way of Greater Cincinnati, United Way of Greater Dayton, United Way of Franklin County, United Way of Oxford, Ohio and Vicinity and United Way of Warren County.

“United Way mobilizes the caring power of communities to advance the common good; LyondellBasell is proud to be a part of their vital work,” said Bob Patel, LyondellBasell CEO and chairman of the management board. “I am grateful for our employees across the U.S. who demonstrated their tremendous generosity during the company’s annual United Way campaign. Through their volunteer efforts and financial contributions, our employees exemplify our company’s mission to be a good neighbor in the communities where we operate.”

One of the programs the United Way of Greater Cincinnati supports is the Ohio Ready Schools initiative. This program prepares young children and their families who have had little exposure to formal early childhood education to enter kindergarten ready to learn. Research has shown quality early learning environments are effective in preparing at-risk children for success in school, work and life. Activities include a center and home based pre-kindergarten summer program, a two day pre-kindergarten summer camp and an after school enrichment program for kindergartners.

“LyondellBasell is a dedicated supporter and partner of United Way as we fight together for the health, education and financial stability of every person in our community,” said Rob Reifsnyder, president, United Way of Greater Cincinnati. “We appreciate the passion of LyondellBasell and its team members in helping create a community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. We’ve honored their great leadership with our Tremendous 25 Award for per capita giving and the Corporate Heroes Award for most volunteer hours for a company its size. Thanks to LyondellBasell, Greater Cincinnati is a better community.”

In 2016, LyondellBasell held United Way campaigns at 23 company sites across the U.S. and raised a total of $2.65 million.

"It is a honor to support organizations that touches the lives of so many,” said Cincinnati Technology Center Site Manager Charles Holland. “Our employees are truly proud to contribute to United Way many times both financially and physically to local agencies.”
