LyondellBasell Global Care Day Brings Lasting Change

CLINTON, Iowa – Sept. 22, 2015 – LyondellBasell Clinton Complex employees and their families descended on two separate sites around the area for the Company’s annual Global Care Day. At Soaring Eagle Nature Center, volunteers created a brick pathway, reestablished an overrun garden area and built an outdoor play area. At Jefferson Elementary, volunteers assembled permanent chicken coops and garden beds, while also building an outdoor classroom to promote environmental sustainability.

“The opportunity to benefit from LyondellBasell’s work on this project is exciting and immeasurably valuable,” said Melisa Jacobson, Soaring Eagle Nature Center board president.

The Company's 16th annual Global Care Day encourages LyondellBasell employees around the world to collectively participate in community service projects on the same day. This year, approximately 2,600 volunteers are investing their time and talents on projects in the areas of education, health and the environment – the core focuses of our Elements of Engagement community philanthropy strategy.

“Having this project as a focus of Global Care Day means so much to everyone in our school and community,”  said Jennifer Graf, Clinton Community School District Education Foundation chair.

Soaring Eagle Nature Center offers educational, historical, cultural and recreational experiences to the Clinton area. LyondellBasell also has a long history supporting Clinton schools in a variety of ways from volunteering in the schools to distributing corporate grants.

“We have a responsibility to show the community how much we value them and Global Care Day is another way our great employees demonstrate their commitment to our neighbors,” said Ethan Berg, Clinton Complex engineer
