LyondellBasell Global Care Day Brings Lasting Change

FAIRPORT HARBOR, Ohio – Sept. 22, 2015 – LyondellBasell Fairport Harbor employees and their families remodeled areas of Harding High School as part of the Company’s annual Global Care Day. Volunteers painted the basement walls and hallways and built tables for the school’s computer lab.

“Global Care Day is a terrific event that provided our school with some needed care, but more importantly is the example it gives our students,” said Dr. Dominic Paolo, Fairport Harbor School District superintendent. “This initiative aligns with our goal of striving for our students to develop a personal commitment to service, and act to make a positive difference in the lives of others.”

The Company's 16th annual Global Care Day encourages LyondellBasell employees around the world to collectively participate in community service projects on the same day. This year, approximately 2,600 volunteers are investing their time and talents on projects in the areas of education, health and the environment – the core focuses of our Elements of Engagement community philanthropy strategy.

“This event is a great way for our dedicated employees to give back to our community and volunteering one morning can make a big difference,” said Patti Kowardy, Fairport Harbor senior laboratory specialist. “Our company prides itself on building strong relationships with our community and this is another great example of that.”

LyondellBasell employees are committed to enhancing the educational experiences of children in Fairport Harbor. Recently, employees donated laboratory glassware for the high school to use in its science classrooms.

“LyondellBasell's volunteers showed our students that there are adults and companies who demonstrate community commitment,” Paolo said.
