Site Receives The Bridge Over Troubled Waters’ Highest Community Award

HOUSTON – August 20, 2018 – The Houston Refinery of LyondellBasell (NYSE: LYB), one of the largest plastics, chemicals and refining companies in the world, was recognized with The Bridge Over Troubled Waters’ (The Bridge) “2018 People of Distinction Award” for over 30 years of support, volunteerism and donations.

“This award is a testament to the heart and commitment of our employees who are familiar with the incredible services offered by The Bridge,” said Jerome Mauvigney, site manager of LyondellBasell’s Houston Refinery. “We are dedicated to being a good neighbor and it’s an honor to be recognized by an organization working tirelessly to provide hope and healing to the most vulnerable.”

Through LyondellBasell’s corporate grants program, the refinery recently donated $5,000 to support The Bridge’s services to children recovering from the devastating effects of domestic violence and/or homelessness.

The Bridge is a nonprofit family crisis center with offices in Pasadena and Baytown. The organization provides services such as case management, crisis intervention, a 24-hour hotline, domestic violence and sexual assault prevention education, emergency shelter and transitional living to those in Harris County.

“We’ve made a difference in the lives of hundreds of thousands of men, women and children who have been impacted by sexual assault or domestic violence with support from strong corporate partners like LyondellBasell,” said Deborah Moseley, executive director for The Bridge Over Troubled Waters. “We are thrilled to recognize the refinery and its employee for the passion they have for our organization and helping those in need.”

Over the last three decades, the refinery has given back to The Bridge in a number of ways, including through toy drives and building repairs. After Hurricane Harvey, the refinery donated approximately $16,000 in food to The Bridge, helping the organization restock food shelves and feed more than 160 families impacted by the storm.

The refinery, which employs about 1,600 workers, was the first petroleum refinery constructed on the Houston Ship Channel. The facility produces gasoline, diesel, jet fuel and lube oils. For more information about the refinery, visit www.lyb.com/houstonrefining.
