LyondellBasell’s Houston Refinery Awards $35,000 in Grants to Pasadena Organizations

HOUSTON, Texas – Jan. 10, 2018 – The Houston Refinery of LyondellBasell (NYSE: LYB), one of the largest plastics, chemicals and refining companies in the world, has selected seven area non-profits to receive $35,000 in funding through its 2017 corporate grant program, established to help further the company’s mission to make a positive impact in the communities where it operates.

This year’s grant recipients represent a broad range of charitable organizations that support the community in the areas of health, safety, education and the environment.

“We are proud to help advance initiatives that meaningfully impact our community,” said Jerome Mauvigney, Site Manager of LyondellBasell’s Houston Refinery. “It’s been both exciting and rewarding to support local organizations and causes that do so much good for our area.”

Among those receiving corporate grants from LyondellBasell’s Houston Refinery are:

  • Galena Park ISD Education Foundation – A $4,000 grant to support the school’s science, math, health and environmental programs.

  • Neighborhood Centers Inc. – An $8,000 grant toward a range of health and wellness initiatives, including health education, nutrition and fitness classes and workshops at BakerRipley’s Cleveland-Ripley Neighborhood Center in Pasadena.

  • Pasadena ISD Career and Technical High School – A $9,000 grant to further the school’s manufacturing program and help with the purchase of needed training supplies.

  • Pasadena ISD Education Foundation – A $5,000 grant to help fund teachers’ ideas for innovative projects and programs.

  • Pasadena Police Department –A $2,000 grant to purchase bicycles and other equipment for the Police Bike Patrol Program.

  • Richey Elementary (Pasadena ISD) – A $2,000 grant to help with costs for playground equipment for special needs students.

  • Texas Conservation Fund –A $5,000 grant to support the River, Lakes, Bays 'N Bayous Trash Bash where volunteers cleanup Texas waterways to help the environment.

In addition to providing local assistance through grants, employees at the LyondellBasell Houston Refinery advance solutions in our community each year through volunteerism, fundraising, guest teaching and speaking engagements, hosting site tours and holding board positions in several local organizations.
