The Volunteer Project is Part of the 18th Annual LyondellBasell Global Care Day

CHANNELVIEW, Texas – Oct. 23, 2017 – LyondellBasell’s Houston Technology Center employees, families and friends spent October 20 and 21 working with B.H. Hamblen Elementary School in celebration of the company’s 18th Annual Global Care Day. More than 50 volunteers helped to refurbish the atrium and outdoor classroom that LyondellBasell built for the school 10 years ago. The volunteers pruned and removed overgrown trees and shrubs, planted new flowers, mulched the area and power washed the atrium’s amphitheater which serves as an outdoor classroom for students.

“For the past 18 years, LyondellBasell has been proud to extend the tradition of working across the world to impact our communities,” said Kai Dominik, site manager for the Houston Technology Center. “There is a strong desire to invest in the places where we live and operate and this is one the most important days of the year. Employees help to decide the organizations that we partner with and this day is a demonstration of our ambition to make a tangible difference.”

LyondellBasell is one of the largest plastics, chemicals and refining companies in the world. Workers from 58 manufacturing sites and offices in 23 countries participate in the annual Global Care Day event.

“Hamblen Elementary School is grateful to partner with LyondellBasell during their Global Care Day event,” said Principal Jose Lopez. “LyondellBasell consistently provides an outpouring of service. It is always nice to see a company that acknowledges the importance of philanthropy, but it is gratifying to know that each piece of this global company truly works to change their communities.”

Over the past 18 years, LyondellBasell employees and their families have cumulatively donated more than 40,000 volunteer hours on Global Care Day.

"A company that makes giving their time a priority shows a greater commitment to the community,” said Channelview ISD Superintendent Greg Ollis. “Our mission is to provide an educational environment which will develop and enhance our students' intellectual, social, emotional, and physical growth, and LyondellBasell is a company that we can trust to reliably provide support, enabling us to achieve our goals.”
