Large Contribution Will Help Fund Programs in the Area

LyondellBasell employees at the Lake Charles site raised $91,000 for the United Way of Southwest Louisiana during the 2012-13 campaign, including $45,550 in employee contributions with the balance matched by the company.  Employees recently presented United Way executives with a $45,500 matching grant from LyondellBasell.

“United Way is fortunate to have the caring support and involvement of the LyondellBasell family in every aspect of our mission,” said Denise Durel, United Way of Southwest Louisiana President and CEO. “Southwest Louisiana is a stronger community because LyondellBasell chooses to call it home.”

Supporting United Way has become a cornerstone tradition of LyondellBasell’s continued commitment of giving back to the community. The yearly campaign helps to fund programs in Victoria that people have come to rely upon.

“The United Way campaign is one of our biggest outreach efforts we do for the community,” said Lauren Martinez, LyondellBasell engineer and campaign lead for the site. “We couldn't be more proud of our partnership with the United Way of Southwest Louisiana and of the opportunities we're creating together for a better life and brighter future for everyone in the area."

Nationally, LyondellBasell employees and the company contributed more than $1.9 million to United Way agencies in the 2012-13 campaign.
