Communities to Benefit from Company and Employee Donations

LANSING, Mich. – May 19, 2017 – The Lansing Business and Technical Center of LyondellBasell, one of the world’s largest plastics, chemical and refining companies, recently announced donations totaling $29,346 to Lansing Capital Area United Way, Inc.

“United Way mobilizes the caring power of communities to advance the common good; LyondellBasell is proud to be a part of their vital work,” said Bob Patel, LyondellBasell CEO and chairman of the management board. “I am grateful for our employees across the U.S. who demonstrated their tremendous generosity during the company’s annual United Way campaign. Through their volunteer efforts and financial contributions, our employees exemplify our company’s mission to be a good neighbor in the communities where we operate.”

One of the programs funded through Capital Area United Way is CapCAN. This program teams local high school counselors with students to help prepare students for potential career opportunities through either college or local skilled technical paths. Counselors work with students to assist them with forms and the applications necessary to obtain an apprenticeship program, trade school or two or four year university.

“LyondellBasell’s Lansing office continues to impress us with both their enthusiasm for the campaign and for the contributions, which have continued to increase the past few years,” said Michelle Lantz, Sr. Vice President of Donor and Public Relations Capital Area United Way. “If all the companies we work with would have that much excitement about United Way, we could change lives in our community at a much faster pace.”

In 2016, LyondellBasell held United Way campaigns at 23 company sites across the U.S. and raised a total of $2.65 million.

“United Way has touched the lives of many of our families, neighbors and friends in times of need," said Matt Collier, Lansing site manager. "We're thankful we have the opportunity to give back to those who do so much for so many others."
