LyondellBasell’s Matagorda Site Donates More Than $72,000 to United Way

BAY CITY, Texas – Feb. 21, 2019 – LyondellBasell’s Matagorda Complex today announced it has raised a total of $72,265 in donations for the Matagorda County United Way.

“To our employees, believing in the power of many is not just a company value, it’s touches them personally,” said Tony Wood, Matagorda site manager. “Our employees are devoted volunteers and supporters of the United Way because they see firsthand the impact of their involvement in the community.”

LyondellBasell’s local campaign was led by Matagorda plant employee Andrew Whipkey. As a result of the success of the local campaign, Matagorda County United Way will be better equipped to assist organizations like Boys & Girls Club of Bay City and Matagorda County, the Women’s Crisis Center and the Economic Action Committee of the Gulf Coast improve lives across Matagorda and Wharton counties.

“We are humbled by the generosity of LyondellBasell’s employees and their giving spirit,” said Di Ann Sneed, executive director, Matagorda County United Way. “They exemplify what being a good neighbor is, and with their support we continue to provide resources to meet the most urgent and current needs of the community.”
