Company Provides Donations and Volunteers to Enhance Program

MORRIS, Ill. – Nov. 10, 2015 – LyondellBasell, one of the world's largest plastics, chemical and refining companies, recently awarded a corporate grant of $2,000 to Junior Achievement Chicago. In addition to the donation, employees from the Morris Complex also have volunteered to teach the Junior Achievement program at two local schools in Channahon.

“We know the funding is important but it’s just as important that we be present in the community because we want to make that connection,” said Brian Angwin, Morris Complex site manager. “With the Junior Achievement curriculum, we can have a true impact on these young lives. We can share financial experiences and life lessons that will guide them in the future.”

In the past 18 months, 32 LyondellBasell employees have taught more than 50 Junior Achievement classes at Pioneer Path and Galloway elementary schools, reaching more than 1,000 students from kindergarten to fourth grade. Since 2013, the Company has also donated $6,000 to support Junior Achievement Chicago.

“The impact that LyondellBasell has brought to enhancing Junior Achievement in this area cannot be understated,” said Eric Sperstad, Junior Achievement of Chicago regional manager. “Before our partnership with LyondellBasell, we had six classes in Channahon. Today that number has grown to more than 50.”

LyondellBasell and its employees maintain a strong relationship with Junior Achievement. In addition to the volunteer efforts of its Morris employees, LyondellBasell volunteers across the country have impacted thousands of students, combining to teach more than 250 classes during the 2014-15 school year.

“The funding has been critical for the program’s growth in the Grundy and Will county area,” Sperstad said. “The leadership of LyondellBasell and their volunteers in helping to drive this program has been nothing but exceptional.”
