LyondellBasell Global Care Day Brings Lasting Change

VICTORIA, Texas – Sept. 12, 2015 – LyondellBasell Victoria employees and their families laid the groundwork to brighten the appearance of Nazareth Academy. The volunteers enhanced the front entrance as part of the Company’s Global Care Day. Now in its 16th year, the event encourages LyondellBasell employees around the world to collectively participate in community service projects.

"Nazareth Academy is thrilled that LyondellBasell is helping to beautify the front of our school,” said Sister Ann Meletio, Nazareth Academy business manager. “The improvements will help the students feel proud of their school when they arrive each day."

LyondellBasell volunteers landscaped large flower beds near the front walkway. Projects for the younger volunteers included creating and decorating cement stepping stones to adorn the campus.

“The advantage of this initiative is we are able to provide the labor needed for projects that otherwise would not be completed,” said LyondellBasell Engineer Kyle Muschalek. “Once we put down the shovels and had a chance to look at all our work, it was just a great feeling.”

Over the past 16 years, approximately 26,000 LyondellBasell employees and their families have donated more than 160,000 volunteer hours in support of their communities on Global Care Day.

“This is a powerful demonstration for the Nazareth students," Sister Meletio said. “We are grateful to LyondellBasell for its generosity.”
