Bayport Underwood Plant

One of LyondellBasell's three Bayport plants in the Pasadena Industrial District, the Bayport Underwood Plant produces ethylene oxide, ethylene glycol, glycol ethers, and glycol ether acetates for LyondellBasell’s Equistar Chemicals business. These products are used to manufacture anti-freeze, brake fluid, dyes, paint, solvents, commercial cleaners and waxes, detergents and cosmetic bases. They also are used as intermediate chemicals to produce polyester fibers, films and bottles.

This plant was the first in the Bayport industrial area to achieve the prestigious Star certification under OSHA's Voluntary Protection Program.

The plant is on Underwood Road just off Red Bluff Road near Armand Bayou Nature Center and the cities of Taylor Lake Village, El Lago, Houston’s Clear Lake area, Pasadena, Shoreacres and La Porte.
