Community Involvement

We recognize that being a socially responsible member of the community requires maintaining an open door for dialogue with our community and actively working to support community needs.

Community Outreach

Plant management meets every two months with the Chocolate Bayou Industries Community Advisory Panel, a group of residents, school officials and local business leaders, to discuss the site's environmental and safety performance, community activities and other concerns and expectations. For more information about the CAP, contact independent facilitator Jeri Gibbs at Jeri.Gibbs@brazosport.edu.

Global Care Day

Thousands of our employees, worldwide, work to make a difference in the world by joining this annual community-service day. In 2014, the Chocolate Bayou site worked with the City of Alvin to repair and paint picnic tables and swing sets at Ruben Adame Park and National Oak Park.  Past projects have included painting rooms at Kidz Harbor shelter, constructing an educational nature habitat for use as an outdoor classroom at E.C. Mason Elementary School in Alvin Independent School District, and working with local residents to make the grounds of the city of Liverpool's new City Hall more beautiful and easier for residents to park . Our volunteers also have tackled several projects at Danbury Middle School and Danbury High School, including extensive landscaping work and the construction of an outdoor science classroom.

Philanthropy

Our employees open their hearts and wallets to support local organizations. For example, they generously support local community service agencies through an annual United Way payroll-pledge campaign.

Volunteerism

We encourage our employees’ active engagement in the local community. They serve as volunteer firefighters, volunteer emergency-medical technicians, science-fair judges, referees, Scout leaders and coaches.
