Communities to Benefit from Company and Employee Donations

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas. – April 6, 2016 – The Corpus Christi site of LyondellBasell, one of the world’s largest plastics, chemical and refining companies, recently announced donations totaling more than $90,000 to United Way of the Coastal Bend as part of its completed 2015 campaign.

“We are committed to being a responsible, good neighbor in the communities where we operate,” said LyondellBasell CEO Bob Patel. “We are very proud of our efforts and the generosity of our employees in giving back to their communities through charitable giving and volunteer service.”

In 2015, LyondellBasell held United Way campaigns at 22 company sites across the U.S. and raised a total of $2.7 million. The money raised by the company’s campaign will benefit thousands of programs across the country that people in need rely upon.

“Employees of the Corpus Christi Complex of Lyondellbasell have quietly, yet enthusiastically, partnered with United Way of the Coastal Bend in creating better lives for our families, our friends and our neighbors,” said United Way of the Coastal Bend President and CEO Catrina Steinocher Wilson. “Lyondellbasell and its employees have never asked for recognition, even though it is most deserved, they simply say “it’s the right thing to take care of our community” and I can confirm that they definitely do the right thing.”

The LyondellBasell Corpus Christi site has raised more than $1.1 million dollars since the site began the campaign in 1997.

“Over the last eighteen years, our family at Lyondellbasell has invested in United Way strategies that have impacted hundreds of thousands of people right here in the Coastal Bend,” added Wilson.

“Each year our employees go above and beyond to demonstrate their commitment to the United Way with their generous donations,” said Corpus Christi Site Manager Randal Tatum. “Their contributions and support since 1997 are making lasting impact on our community.”
