Community Involvement

We recognize that being a socially responsible member of the community requires maintaining an open door for dialogue with our community and actively working to support community needs.

Community Outreach

Plant managers meet regularly with a panel of community residents to share safety- and environmental-performance information and to discuss community expectations and concerns.

Explore & Experiment

LyondellBasell's Explore & Experiment program offers employee volunteers performing hands-on science activities to local classrooms, sparking student interest in science. We also offer area teachers science-training workshops that help them use our Explore & Experiment curriculum in the classroom.

Global Care Day

Thousands of our employees, worldwide, work to make a difference in the world by joining this annual community-service day.

This year, our employee volunteers completed substantial renovations to facilities and installed a playground swing set at the Dream Center of Jackson, a shelter for abused women and children that serves the Jackson-Madison County area.

In years past, we have made improvements to South Elementary Jackson Boys & Girls Club, and the Carl Perkins Center.

Philanthropy

Our employees open their hearts and wallets to support local organizations. For example, they generously support local community service agencies through an annual payroll-pledge campaign for the United Way.

Volunteerism

We encourage our employees' engagement in the local community. They have participated in many local activities, including adopt-a-school programs and the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, at which the plant cook team proudly serves meals to walkers and volunteers.

Collectively, our employees spend hundreds of hours each month in volunteer service. They serve as emergency responders, science-fair judges, referees, mentors, Scout leaders, teachers, coaches and school-board members.
