“United Way mobilizes the caring power of communities to advance the common good; LyondellBasell is proud to be a part of their vital work,” said Bob Patel, LyondellBasell CEO and chairman of the management board. “I am grateful for our employees across the U.S. who demonstrated their tremendous generosity during the company’s annual United Way campaign. Through their volunteer efforts and financial contributions, our employees exemplify our company’s mission to be a good neighbor in the communities where we operate.”

One of the programs benefiting from the Mansfield Plant campaign is the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. IRS-trained volunteers help lower-income families with their annual tax returns for free. The site staff recently visited the VITA center and saw firsthand how their campaign and commitment is making a difference in their community.

“The Mansfield VITA center has helped local families claim more than $85,000 in refunds,” said Sue Matkin, Community Development Vice President at United Way of Tarrant County. “This is extra money in their pockets and extra money in the Mansfield economy. It’s just one of the ways that United Way support from LyondellBasell helps change lives.”

“United Way reaches so many people in our community,” said Mansfield Plant Site Manager Jim Meas. “We’ve witnessed the impact and lasting changes United Way brings to people’s lives and that’s why we are determined to do our best to help them.”

In 2016, LyondellBasell held United Way campaigns at 23 company sites across the U.S. and raised a total of $2.65 million.
