Global Care Day 2014

May 19, 2014

Chocolate Bayou site employees and their families enjoyed the great outdoors as part of their Global Care Day projects.

Created 15 years ago, the company initiative involves thousands of workers in 20 countries across six continents. The goal is to leave a long, sustainable impact in the communities where LyondellBasell operates.

More than two dozen volunteers rolled up their sleeves and got to work on equipment at Ruben Adame Park and National Oak Park. Crews sanded down and repainted the equipment frequently used by the parks’ many visitors.

“I thank the crew from LyondellBasell for choosing Alvin,” says Daniel Kelinske with the City of Alvin Parks and Recreation Department, “Refurbishing the picnic tables and repainting the swing set will! truly add beauty to these very functional pieces and complement the overall attractiveness of the park.”

The beautiful weather this past Saturday gave the volunteers picture perfect conditions to undertake all the work. At the end of the day, the transformation was noticeable.

“We consider it a top priority to give back to our community,“ says Doug Loy, Chocolate Bayou Health, Safety and Environment Specialist, “We hope to provide a safe comfortable place where Alvin residents can spend quality time with their family and friends.”
