LyondellBasell Global Care Day Brings Lasting Change

ALVIN, Texas – Sept. 12, 2015 – LyondellBasell Chocolate Bayou employees and their families converged on the 108-year-old train depot for the Company’s Global Care Day. Now in its 16th year, the event encourages LyondellBasell employees around the world to collectively participate in community service projects.

“On behalf of the City of Alvin Parks and Recreation Department, we are honored and grateful for being selected as the recipient of this year’s Global Care Day project by LyondellBasell to beautify our cherished train depot grounds,” said Director Dan Kelinske. “This project will prove to revitalize the beauty and community pride in this downtown landmark.”

With shovels in hand, LyondellBasell volunteers planted flowers and laid mulch near the front entrance of the depot. Crews also installed landscape bricks around the massive signature pecan tree on the front lawn.

“We wanted to enhance and help preserve the appearance of this piece of history,” said LyondellBasell Senior Process Specialist Ty Martin. “Our hard work pays off in leaving a sustainable impact on the community in which we live. It gives us a feeling of satisfaction every time we see the difference we made.”

The depot sits along the main thoroughfare in Alvin. The dramatic transformation can now be enjoyed by all those who visit.

“I want to personally extend a truly heartfelt thank you to LyondellBasell for their investment in our Alvin community,” said Kelinske.
