Community Outreach
The Fos Caban Plant is recognized as a dedicated member of the community by local elected officials and nearby towns. We engage in regular conversations with the communities around us. The plant is a member of the CYPRES (Regional Center for Public Information on Major Industrial Risks). We also participate in the Seveso Information campaigns on Major Industrial Risks. We also play a key role in the development of the Fos/Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône CLIé (Commission Locale d’Information et d’Echanges) with neighboring communities.
Educational Support
We partner with local schools to support science education through job and science forums, presentations to students and tours of our facility.
Global Care Day
Thousands of our employees, worldwide, work to make a difference in the world by joining LyondellBasell’s annual community service day. This year our volunteers have cleaned the Fos sea shore, and some other volunteers will offer their support to La Chrysalide Martigues Golfe de Fos, working alongside the residents and educators in their home for mentally impaired adults and children located in Entressen. Landscaping, trimming woods, building a concrete floor and repainting are some of the hands on projects which are completed by the volunteers.
In years past, we restored a donated house so it could be sold at the highest possible price for the benefit of La Chrysalide; we planted trees and posidoniae in the Mediterranean; renovated a school in Arles; and helped protect a bird habitat in the Marais du Verdier, in nearby Camargue.
