LyondellBasell Global Care Day Brings Lasting Change

LA PORTE, Texas – Sept. 19, 2015 – LyondellBasell La Porte employees and their families helped transform a popular park as part of the Company’s Global Care Day. Now in its 16th year, the event encourages LyondellBasell employees around the world to collectively participate in community service projects.

“We are grateful for the support that LyondellBasell gave us during their Global Care Day event,” said Director of La Porte Parks and Recreation Rosalyn Epting. “Their assistance will enable us to complete some of our much needed projects at Little Cedar Bayou Park.”

Extensive landscaping was installed at the park entrance and the large area in front of the wave pool. A new bed of mulch now adorns the walkway on the grounds. The two-story concession stand for the baseball fields got a fresh coat of paint.

“Our volunteers are able to provide the labor needed for work at Little Cedar Bayou Park that may otherwise have gone undone,” said LyondellBasell Maintenance Coordinator Phil Goynes. “This was a fairly large undertaking for us but when you see the results, the feeling of satisfaction and pride is tremendous.”

The park is also home to walking trails, a dog park and several picnic spots. Volunteers helped clean up several of the areas.

“We cannot thank them enough for their time and effort in helping us make a difference in the community,” said Epting.
