LyondellBasell’s Lansing Business & Tech Ctr Meets Community Needs During Annual Global Care Day

September 19, 2017

LANSING, MI. – Sept. 19, 2017 – LyondellBasell’s Lansing Business and Technical Center employees, contractors, families and friends spent this past Saturday working at Volunteers of America in downtown Lansing. More than 100 homeless persons were served a hot lunch and provided with socks, hats, gloves and various personal care items in celebration of the company’s 18th Annual Global Care Day.

“For the past 18 years, LyondellBasell has been proud to extend the tradition of working across the world to positively impact our communities,” said LyondellBasell site manager Matt Collier. “There is a strong desire to invest in the places where we live and operate and this is one of the most important days of the year. Employees help to decide the organizations that we partner with and this day is a demonstration of our ambition to make a tangible difference.”

LyondellBasell is one of the largest plastics, chemicals and refining companies in the world. Workers from 58 manufacturing sites and offices in 23 countries participated in the Global Care Day event.

“The outpouring of support from LyondellBasell employees and family members was greatly appreciated by those less fortunate,” said Michelle Adams, who coordinates volunteer projects for the VOA. “The clients felt special to be treated to a picnic outside and the weather couldn’t have been nicer. The donations of socks, hats and gloves are useful, especially with the upcoming winter weather. LyondellBasell employees went above and beyond to make a difference in these clients’ lives.”

Over the past 18 years, LyondellBasell employees and their families have cumulatively donated more than 179,000 volunteer hours toward Global Care Day activities.
