Neighbors in Need to Benefit from Company and Employee Donations

BAY CITY, Texas – April 27, 2018 – The Matagorda Complex of LyondellBasell, one of the world’s largest plastics, chemical and refining companies, recently announced donations totaling $100,362 to the Matagorda County United Way.

As a result of the success of LyondellBasell’s local campaign, the Matagorda County United Way will be better equipped to assist with health and human services in the community through partner agencies such as Food Bank of The Golden Crescent and Literacy Volunteers of America.

“The generosity and support of LyondellBasell and its employees is critical to the success of the United Way mission to improve the quality of life in our community through programs that meet the critical needs of our residents,” said Di Ann Sneed, executive director for Matagorda County United Way.

Joe Hoinkis, site manager for the Matagorda Complex, said his employees are devoted volunteers and supporters of United Way because they see firsthand the impact their involvement makes in the community.

“The United Way campaign is not just a corporate initiative for us, it’s a way for our employees who live in this area to help their neighbors,” said Hoinkis. “They know their gifts make a difference to families and seniors in need who rely on this assistance.”

In 2017, LyondellBasell held United Way campaigns at 23 company sites across the U.S. and raised a total of $2.3 million that will support 26 United Way chapters.
