Contributions Will Fund Programs for Area Organizations

Sept. 18, 2013

LyondellBasell has awarded grants totaling more than $20,000 to 10 organizations in the Morris area. The company today hosted representatives from the recipient agencies at the LyondellBasell Morris Complex.

“We are proud to support local organizations with donations which will help fund programs and impact our community.” said Brian Angwin, LyondellBasell Morris Complex site manager. “These grants reinforce the already-strong and established relationships we have in our community.”

The grants will support agency programs targeting hunger relief, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education and water conservation in this region.

Organizations receiving grants, in alphabetical order, are Canal Corridor Association, Coal City Food Pantry, Conservation Foundation of DuPage County, Joliet Junior College Foundation, Junior Achievement, Meals on Wheels, Minooka Community High School District, Minooka Fire Department, Morris Community High School, and We Care of Grundy County.

The Morris Complex is one of the largest petrochemical facilities in the Midwest. Using natural gas liquids as a feedstock, the plant manufactures ethylene, the world’s most widely-used petrochemical, which is then converted into polyethylene resins. These resins provide value to our society by serving as building blocks for products such as leak-proof and shatterproof containers for industrial and household chemicals, packaging that protects our food from spoilage and contamination, and children’s toys that are safe and durable.
