LYB Scholars Program

LYB is opening doors to academic excellence and career growth. Through our scholarship program, LYB Scholars, we aim to support, champion and empower the next generation of innovators, problem solvers and leaders in the chemical industry.

The LYB Scholars application window for the 2025-2026 school year has closed. Please revisit this page in February 2026 for the 2026-2027 academic year application. 

Eligibility & criteria

  • Class & student status

    Applicants must have full-time student status, which is determined by their university or college. Students’ graduation dates must be between December 2026 and May 2028, making them a freshman or sophomore at the time of application.

  • Colleges/universities

    Applicants must attend one of the following universities:

    • Georgia Institute of Technology
    • Iowa State University
    • Lamar University
    • McNeese State University
    • Ohio State University
    • Oklahoma State University
    • Prairie View A&M University
    • Purdue University
    • Texas A&M University – College Station
    • Texas Tech University
    • University of Houston – Main Campus
    • University of Illinois – Urbana-Champaign
    • University of Texas – Austin
    • University of Wisconsin – Madison

    OR   

    • The applicant can attend any 4-year U.S. university if they are a dependent of an active, full-time LyondellBasell employee.
  • Eligibility to work in the U.S

    Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without future requirement sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B, TN, etc.).

  • Majors

    Applicants must be studying one of the following majors.   

    • Engineering: Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Health & Safety, Occupational Health, Fire Safety, Environmental 
    • Business: Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain, Industrial Distribution, Management Information Systems, Computer Science
  • Minimum GPA

    3.0
