LyondellBasell’s Chocolate Bayou Plant Raises More Than $10,000 for United Way Campaign

ALVIN, Texas – April 13, 2018 – The Chocolate Bayou Plant of LyondellBasell, one of the world’s largest plastics, chemical and refining companies, recently announced donations totaling more than $10,284 in support of three Houston area United Way chapters, including United Way of Brazoria County, Baytown and Greater Houston. The United Way of Brazoria County recognized the plant with its Award of Excellence, given annually to businesses that demonstrate excellence in their United Way campaign, a strong philanthropic culture and community partnership.

As a result of the success of LyondellBasell’s local campaign, the United Way of Brazoria County, Baytown and Greater Houston will be better equipped to continue improving lives and building stronger communities.

“Employees from LyondellBasell’s Chocolate Bayou Plant have an extraordinary commitment to helping make our community better,” said Susan Cooman, director of resource development, United Way of Brazoria County. “For the past 10 years, we’ve recognized the site with our Award of Excellence because of employees’ fundraising achievements during the facility’s United Way campaign.”Greg Gray, site manager for the Chocolate Bayou Plant, said his employees are devoted volunteers and supporters of United Way because they see firsthand the impact their involvement makes in the community.

“The United Way campaign is one way for our employees to help improve the quality of life for many families in our area,” said Gray. “Nearly every facet of our community is positively impacted by United Way programs and support.”

In 2017, LyondellBasell held United Way campaigns at 23 company sites across the U.S. and raised a total of $2.3 million that will support 26 United Way chapters.
