LyondellBasell Global Care Day Renews Commitment to Community

CLINTON, Iowa. – Sept. 12, 2018 – LyondellBasell Clinton Complex employees and their families renovated two local school playgrounds, Camanche Elementary School and Bluff Elementary School on Global Care Day. Now in its 19th year, the event encourages LyondellBasell staff around the world to collectively participate in community service projects.

“Our commitment to these schools is personal,” said Jim Hillier, Clinton site manager. “So many employees live locally so it is important to invest in areas that benefit both our employees and the community.”

At Camanche Elementary School the Clinton volunteer team installed new basketball goals, re-roofed two dugouts, painted the pavilion in the playground area, installed a new buddy bench and completed fence repairs, along with many other small project improvements.

“Thank you to everyone that gave their time to better our student’s school experience,” said Aimee Dohse, Camanche Elementary principal. “This was a perfect example for our kids. LyondellBasell’s staff was prepared, professional, and paid attention to safety and detail. We appreciate their community support!”

At Bluff Elementary School the activities included planting trees, replacing many shrubs, painting entrance doorways, installing mulch and topsoil in areas to improve the safety and beautification of the site.

“Bluff Elementary staff and students were blessed with the kindness of LyondellBasell employees and their families,” said Kristi Cooley, Bluff Elementary principal.  “LyondellBasell helped make our school look amazing, which in turn gives our Bluff families and staff such pride in our school.”

Over the past 19 years, approximately 30,000 LyondellBasell employees and their families have donated more than 190,000
volunteer hours in support of their communities on Global Care Day.

About LyondellBasell’s Clinton Complex
With approximately 400 employees and contractors, and covering an area of almost 239 acres, the Clinton Complex is one of the largest chemical plants in Iowa. These resins are the building blocks for products such as leak-proof and shatter-proof containers for industrial and household chemicals, packaging that protects food from spoilage and contamination, and children’s toys that are safe and durable.
