Good corporate governance benefits more than the people who work for us. It’s good for business and builds the trust and confidence needed to create long-term stakeholder value. That’s reflected in our corporate governance policies, practices and procedures. We regularly update our policies to meet regulatory developments and evolving U.S. and Dutch best practices.
Our global corporate policies and procedures are routinely reviewed and updated and include topics such as health, safety and environmental security, taxes, anti-corruption, anti-trust and product safety. Our advocacy activities include direct lobbying, involvement in various industry associations and the LYB Political Action Committee. Transparency and accountability are embedded in our public policy, political spending and lobbying activities.
We engage daily with stakeholders globally and locally on various topics and issues. Active participation in the political process and industry coalitions is essential to our long-term success. Through direct advocacy, our membership in more than 100 industry associations and the LYB Political Action Committee (LYB PAC), we help shape public policy that supports sustainable growth.
Operational excellence is our management system for delivering continuous improvement in safety, environmental responsibility and reliability across all our activities.The framework sets out clear requirements for how we work, for people, process and product safety, and applies to both employees and contractors. Our environmental, health and safety approach is underpinned by GoalZERO, which is our commitment to operating safely with zero injuries and zero process safety, product safety, environmental and security incidents. On-site contractors, including logistics companies that handle and transport our products, are also expected to comply with our Health, Safety, Environmental and Security (HSE&S) Policy and support GoalZERO.
