LyondellBasell Jackson Plant Celebrates 30 Years of Operation

JACKSON, TN.– Sept. 19, 2018 – The Jackson Plant of LyondellBasell, one of the world’s largest plastics, chemicals and refining companies, celebrated its 30th anniversary commemorating the plant’s rich history and the strong economic impact the facility has had on western Tennessee.

The event featured keynote speakers Mayor Jimmy Harris of Madison County and Mayor Jerry Gist of Jackson County.

“In addition to employing over one hundred Tennesseans, LyondellBasell makes products the world touches every single day, especially in the automotive sector,” Harris said. “We are proud of the men and women who work so hard and safely to provide these products the world relies on every day.”

Over the past three decades, the Jackson Plant has grown from three production lines to six commercial lines, plus an additional product development production line. As the company continues to grow, several investments have been made at the plant to advance its technology, expand capacity and improve product quality. Over the years, the Jackson Plant production volume has gone from a total of 50 million pounds per year to the current volume of 200 million pounds per year.

“Our employees and contractors are some of the finest in the industry and genuinely care about our plant and this community where we are rooted and invested,” said Rebecca White, site manager of LyondellBasell’s Jackson Plant. “Our company continues to expand in different markets so I look forward to many more productive years here.”
The Jackson Plant generates an annual economic impact of approximately $16.3 million.

The Jackson PP Compound Plant covers approximately 26 acres, contains a 127,000 square foot building, a rail spur, container yard, and employs 106 people. The Jackson plant combines polypropylene resin with other materials to enhance the physical properties and prepare them for specific customer applications, such as parts for interior and exterior automotive applications and home appliances.
